"A YOUth group YOU can call home"
|
Our YOUth group is for young people between 6th grade and 12th grade. This ministry helps youth grow to be faithful disciples so that they can make a difference in their world for Christ. The program encourages students to be leaders and promotes active participation in ministry and missions. Frontline activities include: YOUth in Missions at Lake Junaluska, YOUth retreats throughout the year, YOUth week, YOUth Olympics, and mission projects.
Frontline meets every Sunday night from 5-7:30 p.m. in the YOUth room. This includes fellowship, a snack supper, and a YOUth program.

This ministry trains children from age 3 through the fifth grade to serve and love the Lord. On Sunday mornings, children attend Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. During the 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. church services, children from age 3 through the 2nd grade can participate in Children's Minutes and Children's Church. Children's Church meets in the small dining (room 114).
We also have fun programs to help kids learn more about God. AWANA/Joyful Noise Choirs are on Sunday evenings from 4:30-6:30 p.m. with music, a Bible lesson, games, and a snack supper for Cubbie (Preschoolers). Young Disciples is a Wednesday night children's class that meets from 6:30-8 p.m. during the school year. Vacation Bible School lasts five days during the summer. It is for children from age 3 through the 5th grade. Each day at Bible School includes music, Bible adventures, crafts, games and snacks.
During church services and Sunday School, nursery is provided for infants birth-2 years. The nursery is in Room 113. Nursery is also provided on Wednesday and Sunday nights.
We also offer preschool five days a week from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. for children ages 6 weeks through 4 years. Classes use the Abecca curriculum. Instruction also includes sign language and Spanish.

The United Methodist Women (UMW) is an active organization open to women of all ages at First United Methodist Church of Alabaster. The purpose of UMW is to know God, to develop spiritual growth, and to promote service to others. This is a mission-oriented group of women that raises money to help women and children in Alabaster and throughout Alabama, as well as globally. They also provide assistance to groups in our church. Their fundraiser is the annual UMW bazaar in October.
UMW meets in small groups called "circles" for Bible study and service; each circle welcomes new members. Each circle meeting has a program, fellowship and refreshments. Our UMW has three circles: an afternoon circle meets in the church on the third Tuesday of each month; the Mary Kroell circle meets in a member's home on the third Thursday of each month; the Beacon of Hope circle meets at the church on the fourth Thursday of each month.
First United Methodist Church of Alabaster has an active United Methodist Men's organization that is open to all men at our church. UMM exists to declare the centrality of Christ in every man's life. It is a creative, supportive, fellowship of men who seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow spiritually, and to daily seek his will. UMM raises funds for missions, both local and worldwide, and assists with local church needs. UMM fundraisers include an annual garage sale and the United Methodist Men's Charity Golf Tournament. Both events are in May.
The UMM meets for breakfast on the third Sunday of each month at 7 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. All men are invited for breakfast and fellowship.
The Family Committee plans activities that bring the families of our church together for food, fun and entertainment. Some of their activities include: family game nights, family movie nights, spaghetti dinners, a summer cookout and talent show, fifth Sunday potlucks, back-to-school and end-of-school parties. All activities are announced in the bulletin.
The Outreach Committee caters to the needs in our church and in the community with hands-on service and funding. They work closely with Kids First Community Learning Center in Alabaster to provide supplies, support, and activities for the children that participate in after school and summer programs. They prepare and serve lunches on 5th Sundays for the Church of the Reconciler in downtown Birmingham. Many on the committee have repair and carpentry skills and use them in Operation Joseph, a group that provides home repairs in our community. The committee also coordinates congregation collections for donations in the community and local ministries. The group provides assistance to individuals or special projects as they are needed. Anyone can join the Outreach Committee. It meets the first Wednesday of each month.
Outreach meets the first Wednesday Evening of each month in room 207 at 6:00.
Everyone is invited to attend!
